Background
Abdullah AlSalem University (AASU) is a newly established government-funded university in Kuwait where the language of instruction is English. AASU’s Preparatory Program (PP) prepares students in English, mathematics, and IT skills for their academic studies.
The English learning center at AASU is seeking to hire talented full-time coordinators to join the dynamic and fast expanding Preparatory Program team and contribute to the continued development of Abdullah Al Salem University as a world-class provision that attracts high-quality students and provides them with an excellent educational experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Supervising and managing the English Learning Center, ensuring it provides effective academic support to students.
· Assisting faculty members and Teaching Assistants in conducting tutoring sessions, workshops, and other learning activities focused on English language skills.
· Providing one-on-one and group tutoring to students to enhance their reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills.
· Developing and implementing instructional resources, study materials, and interactive learning strategies to improve language proficiency.
· Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to faculty and academic advisors to support student development.
· Ensuring adherence to academic integrity and best practices in tutoring and language learning support.
· Managing scheduling and operations assigned to the center.
· Maintaining an organized and welcoming environment to foster an effective and collaborative learning space.
Required Qualifications:
· A bachelor’s degree in English language, TESL/TEFL, Linguistics, Education, or a related field with a GPA of very good or equivalent.
· Proficiency in the English language and an IELTS score of 7.0 or its equivalent is required.
· Previous experience working with students in a tutoring, mentoring, or classroom setting is preferred.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment and adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
· Positive attitude, patience, and enthusiasm for helping students reach their full potential.
Required Documents
1. Updated curriculum vitae.
2. Scanned copies of all degrees and transcripts (authenticated copies needed if application is successful).
3. Equivalency certificates from the Ministry of Higher Education in Kuwait for bachelor’s and master’s degrees obtained from a university other than Kuwait University or approval from AASU (authenticated copies needed if application is successful).
4. Copy of an official IELTS or TOEFL results not older than three years.
5. Experience letters or certificates.
6. Names/affiliation and contact details of at least two professional referees.
